C:windowssystem32rundll32.exe – Application not found

rundll32-application not foundSo what does all that mean? Well, when dealing with Windows viruses and spyware, you may run across the dialog box pictured on the right. We just recently had this pop up after using one of our spyware removal tools to get rid of the all-too-common “XP Antivirus” spyware from one of our clients machine. You might get this message after trying to right click “My Computer” and choose “Properties”. Or you might get a dialog box prompting you to select an application to load the selected file after trying to launch…well…anything.

Thankfully, we located this Microsoft TechNet post which has a link to this third party site which is riddled with all sorts of nifty little Registry changes to fix issues pertaining to problems after removing bugs in your installation of Windows. Doug Knox, we at Tech90 salute you and your efforts and thank you and people like you all over the world that help providers and consumers alike to resolve issues quickly and easily.
